Friends of Hove Charity - Grant Awards

Who we are...
The Friends of Hove Rugby started off as a group of people from Hove Rugby Club who just wanted to help those suffering from hardship at the Club and we have been doing that since 2011. In 2018, we converted the Friends into a Charity and intend to carry on the good work and expand a little. We exist to help bring sport and particularly rugby to all in our area.

Where we operate...
Originally, the Friends concentrated all their resources within Hove, but we have widened our wings and now include the surrounding areas as well. We have made grants to members of both Brighton and Shoreham Clubs in addition to Hove. We will consider the whole of Sussex but will prioritise the BN post code.

What we do...
The Friends mainly give grants to individuals – adults or kids – who need help. This could be for kit, or to go on tour or similar. We will also help those who have been injured while playing sport for either subsistence or help with medical bills. Finally, we will also consider making grants to organisations (schools and sport clubs in our area) for capital projects.

How to get help...
All you need to do is to complete the application form and send it to us. We will turn all forms around within 30 days and usually quicker. If you are a minor then your parent/guardian must complete the form. If we agree to help then we will confirm our offer to you and arrange transfer of the funds. It’s that simple.

Can I help...
Of course you can. We are always seeking donations from either regular or occasional donors. Please use the menu links to go to our Regular Donation page or our Occasional Donation page. Many Thanks

Main Categories where we consider Awards
Touring
Touring is an essential part of team sports and sometimes one or more people – kids or adults – just cannot afford the costs. The Friends can help. Make your case and we will always listen.

Kit / Equipment
Often those boots just give up the ghost when you need them most. If you can’t afford a new pair then give the Friends a shout. Also, head guards and other personal items that you may need

Medical / Subsistence
Sometimes you can get injured playing the sport you love and the Friends understand this. If you suffer hardship because of lack of earnings or unexpected medical bills, then the Friends will consider making contributions to help.

Organisations
Sometimes the Clubs or other organisations that provide sporting facilities also need a little help from the Friends! We will consider grants for capital or other types of projects that provide more sporting facilities for the local people.

Other
We all have a “Significant Other”. This is for a group of items that aren’t as definable. But if you have a need then give us a call or make an application. We might just say “Yes”.
