We travelled to Uckfield to play a combined Heathfield and Uckfield team. Hove started more confidently than they have in previous matches and it didn’t take long to open the scoring with a great individual try from Anya. The scores kept coming with more tries from Anya and also from Lois, Tyla and Lara. The Hove attack consisted of strong teamwork with most of the tries being built by the team and finished by the try scorers. Sissy managed to kick 5 conversions including a couple with tricky angles.
The match finished 0-60 to Hove. This scoreline however doesn’t give credit to Heathfield/Uckfield who, in their first ever competitive match, had some very strong players and threatened the Hove try line on many occasions. The strength of their attack meant Hove needed some great defensive play to keep them from scoring.
As usual it is hard to single out players when they all played so well, so I will just mention the two identified on Sunday by people not from the club. Firstly Eve, in her first game back after injury, was picked by the opposition for excellent play. Secondly, the referee singled out Elizabeth who had a great game on the wing and showed fantastic game awareness.
Well done girls. Lovely to have a win and looking forward to the next match
