Hove vs Pulborough

Today we played Pulborough in our first cup match and what was supposed to be our first 15-a-side match. Unfortunately Pulborough only managed to bring 12 players so we played 12-a-side and had to lend them players to cover injuries as we had 19.

Pulborough started quickly, scoring twice in the first quarter. Honours were even in the second and third quarters with Pulborough scores matched by tries from Anya and Keira. The final quarter ended early due to an injury to Eve but not before they managed to sneak in another try. There were no successful conversions from either side so the score finished 10-25.

The team’s performance was very impressive with some fantastic tackling and defensive play. Some great individual performances (but too many to mention so I won’t!) and some fantastic teamwork. It is so hard to believe watching them that some of these girls have only been playing rugby for a few weeks and most have never played on a full size pitch before. The team are exciting to watch and I am looking forward to see how they develop over the season. Although there were many fantastic performances, 2 players stand out for a special mention: Player of the Match as nominated by Pulborough was Saige and Coaches Player of the Match was Eve.
