After a well-observed two minute silence in honour of Remembrance Day outside the clubhouse, the Hove girls welcomed Lewes for their second Waterfall match (and first home one) of the season.
Building on the improvements shown in their first game the week before, Hove started the match strongly and ran in two quick tries by Eva and Lottie to go 2-0 up early on. Both teams were competing well in an exciting end to end contest with fast running and hard tackles throughout, and Lewes came back into the contest towards the end of the first half, scoring three tries in succession to make the score 2-3 at half time.
In the second half, a break out wide by Noli saw Hove level the scores, and the girls retook the lead midway through the second half through a try from Eloise to go 4-3 up. In a frantic finish, Lewes snatched a try back to level the scores and almost won it with the last play of the game, but a stunning last ditch tackle from Eloise took the Lewes player into touch and the matched ended with honours even at 4 tries each - a fair result in an excellent match by all the players on both teams.
A massive well done to all of the Hove U13 girls - as a new team only formed over the summer, you've come on leaps and bounds during the first fixtures of the season! Looking forward to the next match!
