Hove Ladies dominate Richmond to stay 3rd in the Championship South 1.

Hove had the kick off and were straight up on the attack, they applied good pressure from the off and it looked like there might be a very early score, however Richmond ripped the ball and kicked clear which Temps caught, play continued one way and then the other, finally a Hove knock on. Hove attacked again and once again Richmond managed get hold of the ball and kick it clear. Yet more Hove pressure and desperate clearing by Richmond. It was starting to look like this would be the story of the first half, when after 11 mins Blondie scored on far side, no conv.

Despite Richmond restart, Hove charged back into opposition half. With some beautiful link play, Hove were almost in the clear, unfortunately the move resulted in a dropped ball. Richmond attacked from the resulting scrum, this time it was Hove’s turn to steal and they returned to attack using the width. Curtis picked the ball up from back of ruck and broke through the Richmond defence. After more sustained pressure in opposition half with lots of attack, turn over then re-turn over, Sam picked up a beautiful off load from Hove 6 to score at 23 minutes, Temps converted.

At 30 minutes with a scrum in own half, Blondie picked up. The ball went to Curtis, then to Hove 6, who backed herself despite well placed support. Just when it looked like Hove 6 had taken on the ball too far, she passed to Beth who ran round to score under posts. Temps converted.

A line out on 34 minutes which was passed down the line. Molly with ball, could've passed to Beth through the centre but waited, and passed to Olly who produced an inspired run, wrong footing a number of Richmond players to score under the posts. Temps converted.

The second half kicked off with the ball not going 10, Blondie once again picked up from the scrum and ran it, some great passing by the girls, she got the ball back and ran down the wing, with players in support either side. Hove 6 held her support pace beautifully on the outside, received a perfectly timed pass to continue along the wing and score under posts. Temps conv.

I unfortunately missed the build-up play, but at 45 minutes Richmond attacked along wing, and came close to try line. They gained a scrum to left hand side of the post, play bought left and scored on wing. No conv.

With so many changes being made to the Hove side around the ½ time mark and into the second half Richmond seemed to grow with confidence and after what seemed like an eternity of Richmond pressure they broke through again to score on 79 mins. No conv.

Final score 33-10. Hannah forward of the match and Temps back of the match.
