Hove Women vs. Wasps Ladies II

Both teams got off to a sloppy start on Sunday with possession switching between the teams time and time again. However Hove were already showing their dominance by being an almost permanent presence in the opposition half.

The pressure paid off when after just 13 minutes it looked like Beth was going to score. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, this time. However, after another bout of pressure Wasps conceded when at 21 minutes in Vikki Mayne backed herself beautifully on the outside to secure the first score. This try came from from side to side play which almost resulted in an earlier try.

At 25 mins, after a blazing run from Holly H, Clive crashed the ball through the centre for another score, which Temps dutifully converted.

At 29 minutes it was the turn of Wasps to put a fright on the girls, when after some dubious calls by ref and the reset of a penalty Wasps gave the ball to a tank of a player who bundled over from 5m out to score, which they converted.
Hove fought back immediately, not allowing Wasps to celebrate for long at all. Holly H was on the move again, this time with a blistering run down the wing, a cheeky cut inside to score, again Temps converted.
An injury at 38m brought Cally on to the front row with Karin shifting to second row.
First half ended with Hove in the lead by 12 points. Hove 19-Wasps 7.

Wasps came back from the break on a mission. However they couldn't find a way through the Hove defence. Sure there were some scary moments but at least one Hove player always dug extra deep to protect the line.

At 57 mins more changes were made to the front row, allowing Sophie and Jordan some game time.
Then at 61 minutes, more magic, after a great passage of play, Beth cut an awesome line to score under posts. Unfortunately no conversion.

Hove continued to pile on the pressure and 5 minutes later Clive received a floated pass from Blondes to add another score, which Temps converted.

A change in the backs at 70mins giving Holly T some time on the wing.
With 3 minutes to play Clive cheekily intercepts a pass and heads for the line. Unfortunately the ref pulled this back but not before a rather humorous encounter between Clive and a Wasps player who was desperate to avoid conceding another try.
Even at the last play Hove were still hungry for more, from a Wasps scrum Polly attacked the scrum half who fumbled her pass and then continued on to the poor player who received the pass ultimately disrupting Wasps final effort and resulting in the end of the match.
Another good game, another big name scalp for an inform Hove Women's side.
Final score 31-7.
