Law changes in Rugby Union has always been a hotly debated topic, whether the changes are large or small.
World Rugby have recently just announced some more rule changes that will be being trialled in this current world cup cycle leading up to the World Cup in Japan, 2019.
One of the major law changes being trialed is the new points system. Try's will become worth 6 points instead of 5, with all conversions, penalties and drop goals being worth 2 points instead of 3. Penalty tries will also be a straight 8 points and no conversion will be taken. World Rugby hope the changes to the points will allow the game to become more competitive and not so heavily relied on kicking for the outcome. Let's be honest, we all want to see attacking rugby and none of this kicking for goal every chance we get.
Other changes include changes to the maul, and the introduction of the 5m dropout as an alternative option to the 5m defensive scrum.
