Women's Six Nations games being shown at the Clubhouse this Saturday Beef at home to Hellingly k.o. 3pm Saturday 25 March

Hello,
What a final day of rugby that was, I hear the club was drunk dry of Guinness! Are you ready to do it all again? The women’s Six Nations kicks off on Saturday and we will be showing Wales v Ireland @ 2:15 and England v Scotland @ 4:45.

The men’s first team had their final league game with an impressive 85 – 5 over Warlingham leaving them third in the league behind Chobham and Old Tiffinians, congratulations to all the players on an impressive league season. Next their attention turns to the Papa John’s Cup as they take part in the Counties 1 South Plate. Their first round is an away match against Ashford on the 1st April.

The Beef’s cup competition kicks off this weekend as they host Hellingly in the Sussex Plate Quarter Finals. On Sunday the women lost 62 – 0 away at Bath and this weekend host Reading Abbey.

Thanks to those who have recently expressed an interest in getting more involved with the club. We have a couple more roles that need filling as Macca and Neil step away from Commercial lead and Safeguarding. Macca has done a brilliant job in revitalising the club’s approach to sponsorship, so we are now looking for someone to help maintain the momentum working with a supportive team across the club to manage our current sponsors and help secure new sponsorship opportunities.

We are also looking for a lead safeguarding officer, this is a vital role in being the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults at risk. The role requires a DBS check and then attendance at a RFU In Touch training course within the first 3 months of taking up the post. Other key duties include ensuring that all safeguarding concerns are reported appropriately to the Constituent Body Safeguarding Manager (CBSM), the RFU Safeguarding team and/or the appropriate statutory agencies in a timely fashion, in line with the appropriate RFU procedures. This role takes about 5 - 6 hours per month. We are also looking for volunteers from each of the sections to support the lead safeguarding officer to help ensure that with the support of the committee, the club adheres to all its safeguarding responsibilities. If you would like more information on these roles and time commitment, please get in touch geraldine.brown@hoverugby.club.
