Sussex Yeomanry Rugby Club Cap donated to Club

I was delighted to receive a Sussex Yeomanry Rugby Club cap for 1937-1938 today which I believe was awarded to the late Geoffrey Docwra in 1937-1938.

Geoffrey then went on to Captain the Yeomen in their last season before WW2 when, sadly, many of them were victims of the terrible war.

I will be updating the History site - https://history.hoverugby.club - with some scans of fixture cards from the time and I also have some team photos which will take a bit longer to scan. Hopefully, within a week or so.

I must thank Geoffrey's son David for these incredibly rare artefacts.

For any of you not aware, the Sussex Yeomanry was the forerunner of Hove Rugby Club. Hove rose out of the ashes of the SYRFC after the war had ravaged playing numbers and to this day there is a team named after and in honour of the Yeomen.
