A good win against a big and strong Bognor side.

We started off a bit ring rusty and spent most of the first half on the defence. However our defence held firm and for the few times we managed to get over the oppositions 22 we scored 3 tries and finished the first half 19-0 in the lead. After the half time team talk we started much livelier and went continuously on the attack. The quick line speed of our backs stopped their big centres from making ground. A strong defence kept their big forwards at bay. Good break away scores from Archie and Steph after some slick passing seem to take the spirit out of the opposition. All the bench got onto the pitch and added to the pace of our game.

Try scorers were Archie (2), Stephen, George, Tyler, Joe and Steph. So a good selection of Backs and Forwards with the Forwards dominating the score sheet 5 - 2. George managed to convert six out of seven tries with some from difficult angles. In tight games conversions can be the difference between winning and loosing. So well done George.

The only down side was that we looked venerable to the high kicks. Too many times we allowed the ball to bounce into touch which lost us territory and put us on the back foot. We need to show more confidence of catching the high ball and going back onto the attack. Against the Horsham and Brighton's it could have cost us dearly

My calculations before the match was that we should have had a 30 point difference. However you proved me wrong and made it 40 points so overall a very good team effort A win giving us five points against probably the third strongest team in our league, now puts us into second place with two games in hand. Our next game is away against Crawley next Sunday in the cup so it's essential we all turn up for training on Thursday. Hopefully the injuries to Tyler and Liam will have recovered by then.
