Lewes v Hove Colts

We made heavy weather of the first half and trailed several times. Some spirited defence around the rucks stopped their strong runners from giving Lewes a bigger lead. After each Lewes score we came back strongly and at half time were just in the lead at 12 -10.

In the second half Hove started to dominate and in the last 15 mins took command and got a number of quick counter attack tries. Towards the end of the game Lewes seemed to have no answer to the pace of our game.

Although there were a number of occasions when our speed to the rucks was slow and resulted in too many turnovers. Also our failure at times to find touch when kicking out of our own 22 resulted in us losing too much ground and having to defend in our 22. Against a more capable team these shortcomings might have cost us the game.

However there was some good inter changing passes in the backs which but for being held up on the line would have resulted in more tries. Our passing under pressure between forwards and backs continues to produce results and on several occasions gave us tries. Bens interception of their line out in our 22 in the last few mins got us moving forward and a quick delivery from the ensuing ruck with some slick interchanging of passes between our backs resulted in a try and the end of the game.

Hove scored tries from Charlie, Dom, George, Juan, Tyler and Steph. Equal honours between backs and forwards which shows strength in depth.

Still things to work upon but we continue to show progress. Our next game is against Hasting at home on the 30th Oct.

Ps: Hope George' quickly recovers from his headache. In my time in the forces that was classed as a self inflicted injury and would have been an offence not cured by an aspirin. Did you and Kyle get all your clothes back ?
