Match Report

Crawley Colts 10 - Hove Colts 64

Another impressive all-round performance by Hove with 3 backs scoring 5 tries and 4 forwards scoring 5 tries. The pace of the front row right back to fullback was outstanding with great interchange and off loads between all players. As one of Crawleys coach's said the pace of our team was too much for his team.

The interchanging between backs and angles of running produced unstoppable tries from Liam (2) and Stephen. Dom showed good handling of the ball and electric pace which resulted in two tries. George's strong kicking resulted in 6 conversions from some difficult angles. His pace and interchange with Harvey, Liam and Stephen were constant threats to the opposition

Steph and Marcus's pace and aggressive running resulted in tries. Good to see Marcus back to his normal unstoppable self and well done to Steph playing in the front row. Juan's first time run out as flanker produced a try after fully stretching to the line. Karl was his normal strong running self which resulted in 2 tries. Ben's mauling technique was again impressive and resulted on one occasion allowing the team to break out of their 22 to nearly score a try. Tyler continues to impress and his powerful runs invariable got the team well over the gain line.

There was a period in the second half where we seemed to go to sleep and let Crawley back into the game which in a closer fought match might have proved costly. However it is only the second game played and if we concentrate on our match fitness then that should not happen in the future. We also need to practice more on lineout's and rucking. On one occasion in the second half we won the counter ruck and then backed off giving the ball back to the opposition. On those occasions we need to be more aware and grit our teeth and continue to push. Next weeks away match against Haywards Heath Colts may prove a more testing game

However another comprehensive win for the Colts with match winners both in backs and forwards. So well done the team

Try scorers were Liam (2), Steph, Karl (2), Stephen, Marcus, Dom (2), Juan
