Hove u15's away @ Crawley RFC
Cold Day but some Hot action!!!
Great first half performance set the foundations for a 72 - 0 win away at Crawley.
Scoring opened after just 5 mins with a powerful try by Casper created through the forwards.
On 10 mins the backs combined to set Tom free on the outside and with 3 stop start runs went straight down the left wing and ran round under the posts to make the conversion easier (12-0).
Charlie H then scored after 15 mins on the opposite side in similar fashion and Jamie knock the conversion over from wide (19-0).
Oliver then found room up the middle of the pitch and went in on 23 mins (24-0).
The backs then finished off the Half with 3 quick tries : Jamie 26 mins, JJ 29 mins and Tom rapping it up on 31 mins.
Half Time 43-0.
We made a few changes after 20 mins and then all the remaining subs came on at Half time but that didn't slow Hove down with Jake only taking 3 mins to go in again.
There was then a very messy 10 min period where we lost our shape, made mistakes and didn't convert 3-4 chances.
Tom then got his hatrick on 43 mins when he found himself with room on the left wing again (55-0).
It only took 2 mins for the next try made by the forwards and then with a swift pick & go, Louis handed off a couple of defenders and ran in a try from the 22 (60-0).
There was then again a very messy 12 min period where Hove were camped out inside the Crawley 22 but couldn't convert 3-4 chances.
With Crawley tiring, Tom closed the game out with two final tries in quick succession on 58 & 61 mins, saving the best for last as he stepped in from the left wing and sliced the defence apart to run in under the posts.
We scored 12 tries with 8 difference try scorers and Tom bagging 5, however our Man of the Match today was Rhys with some excellent carries, catch & returns and general play, closely followed by Jake.
Jake also took the drinking game honours in the Clubhouse!!
The First Half was a much cleaner performance with everyone following the game plan but the second half was not so good and against better opposition we need to be more clinical.
Well done boys and all the parents who braved a very cold day.
Next week away to the Horsham/East Grinstead Barbars.
