Hove's perfect start, by the numbers...

Hove have started their 2017/18 league campaign with a strong start, picking up maximum points after three games

Hove have got off to a flying start in London 2 South East this season with three wins from three and the team will be looking to pick up a fourth win on Saturday against Haywards Heath.

We have to go back a few years to find the last time Hove won their opening three league games (so long ago in fact that bonus points didn't exist back then!) to 2005/06 when we were in London 4 South East (level 8). Interestingly two of the teams we beat on that day are in our current league, and one of them, Betteshanger, we beat in this current run of three, although Betteshanger Rugby Club has since merged with Deal. The other team was Old Elthamians who are probably enjoying their current place in National 1 but probably still miss coming down to the Recreation Ground! In 2005/06 Hove actually went on to win their first five games before losing to another team we face this year - Charlton Park. Despite their great start, Hove had a difficult second half of the season and went on to finish fourth in the table that year - ironically behind both Old Elthamians (1st) and Betteshanger (2nd).

Hove have picked up a bonus point for each game so far, with an average of 6.67 tries per game. Interestingly enough, every single point so far has come from a try or a conversion - not a single penalty or drop goal.

Martin Macdonald and Rob Ward lead the try scorer charts with 4 tries each.

Carles Casanova Galindo has taken every kick this season, although he's unavailable for the Haywards Heath game. He's hit 15 of his 20 kicks giving a 75% success rate.

On average, Hove have scored 43.33 and conceded18.67 over the first three games.

Unrelated to the team out on the pitch, but we're also really happy to have welcomed over 500 people to our Anniversary Day game against Dover last weekend.

Hopefully, we can keep these numbers growing both on and off the field!
