Charity Memorial Match a resounding success!

Sadly, before christmas, a long standing member of Hove Rugby Club, who had played since he was a mini through to colts, passed away.

The 30th January would've been his 22nd birthday and so in his honour, friends and family organised a charity memorial match on the 31st January. To show their support, gifts were donated for a raffle and cakes were baked for a bake sale.

Despite grim conditions and a close call as to whether the match would go ahead, 30 players took to the pitch in honour for Cameron. Cameron's brother, George, conducted a speech and led a minutes silence and the releasing of 100 Orange balloons in memory of Cameron before Kick off.

The game was a thrilling showdown between the two sides and highly entertaining for all those that came down to watch. From exciting free flowing rugby (school boy rugby) to the hilarity of watching someone go to run and fall flat on their backside!

All in all, the match, raffle and cake sale managed to raise an outstanding £1310, which well exceeded the target the organisers were aiming for. The money raised is being donated to a charity of Cameron's family choice.

A huge thank you has to go to Sara Pryce and Sami Knight and everyone else that helped with the organisation of the event.
